Thanks to your magic, the ring locks onto the spring - it won't come off!
However, you'll be able to detach the ring from the spring in a flash, but your "victim" won't be able to.
Here's a lovely puzzle, simple but offering a spectacular finale to your borrowed ring routines (which you can then find locked with the spring!!!), etc....
